Autumn Clean Out - A Great Time To Donate That Under-used Computer
Check out our background and our client list below.
The Computer for Kids (C4K+) program refurbishes computers donated by individuals, businesses, and schools, and which can be upgraded. Although the program started by serving K-12 public education students, it now serves home schooled and college students of all types, plus non-profits organizations and adults who are involved in formal adult education as well as work-related training, hence the addition of the PLUS sign to C4K+.
The C4K+ program has been a “Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher” from its early days, which means it meets strict refurbisher guidelines and enjoys substantial discounts on select Microsoft software. After wiping the hard drive to remove all personal data files and programs, Microsoft Window 10/11 Pro and LibreOffice are installed on most computers along with several useful software applications. Linux-Mint (an alternative operating system) is installed on under powered computers, along with useful applications, making them fully competitive with Microsoft-configured computers.
The C4K+ program has been continuously operating since 2008 and has provided over 2,000 computers to the various categories of clients. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs Village, AR is the primary sponsor of the program, providing workspace, volunteers and financial support.
